Destany Fenton has spent most of her years aspiring toward
artistic achievement. She has studied privately with numerous accomplished
artists, including expert German painter Doris Joa and many others. Destany has
amassed a lifetime of knowledge and skill.
Portraiture and figure painting is a subject that Destany
feels drawn to. In her words, “There is nothing so complex and intriguing as
the human face. I find beauty in every feature of every subject.” Although
quite adept at romantically depicting floral arrangements, buildings or
landscapes, nothing quite captures our imaginations as the intentful gaze of a
face rendered in oil by an artists skilled hand. Destany studies her subjects
and loves to hear stories about them, getting to know each of them so that she
can capture their spirit and personality as well as their likeness. Her years
of studying anatomy and the human form allow her to work from life or from
photos, where she can easily spot and correct photo-distortion that others may
not even see until it is pointed out to them.
Working with Destany is easy and she knows just how to make
you feel completely comfortable. She will walk you through the entire process,
from discussing the concept of the portrait, all the way until completion. She
prides herself on being personable, approachable and extremely down to earth.
She will not end work on a painting until she knows her client is totally
pleased with it.
Destany works and lives just outside of Kansas City Missouri,
with her husband Joe, and their four children. Apart from oil painting, she
expresses herself artistically through many different interests including
drawing, sewing and clothing design, creating her own knitting patterns, and
writing – art, in every form.
