She is very affectionate and comes from a loving household full of hugs and kisses and nose rubs. After dinner, she and her family will sometimes relax around the table after clean-up and enjoy an extra moment of each others company.
*Artist Note: This painting was quite a challenge, for many different reasons and it really helped me to grow as an artist. Elora has stunningly beautiful caramel colored skin, and I wanted to portray that - while at the same time, creating the prismatic effect by purposely NOT using the correct colors. Adding to challenge, the photo I used for a reference was in black in white. Normally I would not have dared, but I fell in love with the beauty of the moment captured by Elora's father with his camera phone. I studied other photos of the family to get an accurate idea of skin tones, but I have no idea what the true color of the clothing was - or even what the color of the kitchen is. I chose to leave the background in black and white and only color the subjects because I felt it was more striking this way, and also because it suits my purpose in this series.
